Jessica Nelson-Mitchell
MA, LADC, LAMFT
Jessica Nelson-Mitchell, MA, LADC, LAMFT (she/her) enjoys working with teens and adults struggling with relationship issues and major life transitions such as separation, divorce, or the loss of a loved one. If you’re looking to improve communication and increase trust and intimacy in your relationships, Jessica will help you navigate these conversations and create more opportunities for positive connections.
As a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), Jessica can also help you redefine your relationship with alcohol or understand the complicated nature of addiction in family members. She will work with you to reduce codependent behaviors and understand the impact of addiction on family/couple relationships. Jessica understands how anxiety and a depressed mood can play a role in addictive behaviors and will help you learn coping skills for navigating these struggles effectively. Jessica also has previous employment experience providing individual and group counseling for adults struggling with problem gambling.
Jessica’s approach to therapy is strengths-based and relational. She has training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Prepare/Enrich, an evidence-based tool for helping couples prepare for marriage and improve their relationships. Jessica has additional training in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for treating the intrusive thoughts associated with severe anxiety and OCD.
Jessica has a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She is pursuing LMFT licensure (anticipated Fall 2026) in the state of Minnesota under the supervision of Michelle Peterson, LMFT.
